UP Police Regs 74Chapter 6 · Armed Police
Section 74 · Paragraph 71. Requisition and use of armed police
Text size — level 1 of 4
Requisitions for armed police in excess of the district's allocation, if any, should be made to the Inspector General six weeks before the day on which additional police are required and should be forwarded by the District Magistrate and Commissioner, provided that where there is delay in doing so, the application should be sent demi-officially after consultation with the District Magistrate. The armed police should not be paraded on insignificant occasions as a show of force, but should be used only when the civil police are clearly incapable of handling the situation. The armed police should be restricted to their proper duties and should not be dispersed in small outposts where they are of little use.
