Section 304 · Paragraph 295. Matters to be recorded in the GD

The following matters should be recorded in the General Diary:
(1) Morning parade report, the reason for the absence of any officer or constable.
(2) Verification of balance funds by the officer-in-charge and inspection of the storehouse.
(3) Details of daily duties and the grant of casual leave.
(4) Departure and arrival of police officers on duty, transfers, and leave.
(5) Reports on the performance of all duties, such as the service of rounds or duty slips, inspections, and investigations.
(6) Transfer of charge of the duties of the head clerk of the police station.
(7) Posting and relieving sentries when they are posted or relieved by a sub-inspector or head constable in accordance with paragraph 59.
(8) Receipt and disbursement of cash.
(9) The fact that the police have seized any property, including a brief description of such property and the action taken to dispose of it.
(10) Arrests made at the police station.
(11) Arrival and departure of prisoners, including a statement of reasons for handcuffing or not handcuffing them in the case of prisoners being released.
(12) Acceptance of bail for prisoners at the police station.
(13) Cheque receipt (Format No. 341 or 347) with serial number, distance and direction from the police station to the village where the crime was reported, and, in the case of cognizable offenses, the number of crimes reported from that village in a year up to date.
(14) Report of all incidents that are subject to report or require action by the police or magistrate, or that should be reported to the district authorities.
(15) Action taken on the report.
(16) Details of other documents received.
(17) Inspections of police stations by gazetted officers and inspectors.
(18) Details of property seized by the police and pending disposal in the storehouse on the first and sixteenth of each month.
(19) List of pending instructions and orders on the first and sixteenth of each month.
