UP Police Regs 12Chapter 1 · Senior Officers
Section 12 · Paragraph 9. Inspection of Police Station by District Magistrate
Text size — level 1 of 4
The District Magistrate should normally inspect each police station once every half year. However, in districts where an Additional District Magistrate (office) is posted, the District Magistrate may delegate the inspection of police stations to him. The District Magistrate should ensure that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate inspects each police station at least once in detail and once in a surprise inspection every half year. He should instill in them the dual duty of assisting the police in the enforcement of law and order and preventing injustice. He may direct any subordinate Magistrate to inspect police stations, but Magistrates of the Third Class should not normally be directed to inspect them unless it is required as part of their training. An inspection book with blank pages for the use of magistrates shall be maintained at each police station. A summary of the crime in Form No. 390 shall be pasted on the inside cover of each such inspection book. Whenever an inspection note is recorded in it, this book should be sent to the Superintendent of Police and by him it will be sent to the District Magistrate for information.
