Section 422 · Paragraph 412. Height and chest measurement before the Quartermaster Inspector before the medical examination

Before a candidate is sent for medical examination to the Civil Surgeon, his/her height and chest measurements must be taken accurately in the presence of a Reserve Inspector. The candidate's hands should be raised and the circumference of his/her bare chest should be measured.
No candidate will be recruited without a medical certificate in Form No. 29 signed by the Civil Surgeon of the district. Before being recruited, each candidate must sign an agreement in the following format:
I, son of…, resident of village…, police station…, district…, affirm and covenant that on being recruited into the Uttar Pradesh Police Force, I will serve the said Uttar Pradesh Police for a period of two years from the date of joining the Force, unless I am relieved or dismissed from such service or certified unfit for such service by the Civil Surgeon. If I resign from the post before the said two years, I undertake to forfeit the amount calculated at the following rates:-
(a) For service up to three months, one rupee per month for the completed months of service.
(b) For service of more than three months but less than six months, two rupees per month for the completed period of service subject to a maximum of Rs. 10/-
(c) For service of more than six months but not exceeding one year, three rupees per month for the completed period of service subject to a maximum of Rs. 25/-
(d) For service after one year but within two years, four rupees per month for the completed period of service subject to a maximum of Rs. 50/-
