Section 15 · Paragraph 12. Responsibility of the Superintendent of Police
Text size — level 1 of 4
The Superintendent heads the police force in the district and is responsible for its efficiency, discipline, and the proper discharge of its duties. He must ensure that orders from courts and other competent authorities are promptly implemented. All correspondence between magistrates and the police force is routed through him, and all orders and instructions issued to the police must originate from him.
Magistrates' courts, not located at district headquarters, may send summons, warrants, or other processes issued under Chapters VI, VII, X, and Section 421(1)(a) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, directly to police stations for service in the subdivision in which the courts are located, and not through the office of the Superintendent of Police. Such processes, after service, will be forwarded directly to the concerned courts, not through the office of the Superintendent of Police.
