This will not be done except in the case of Assam.)
Except in the case of Assam, the following procedure will be followed for recovering and adjusting charges. As soon as possible after the patient is discharged from the hospital, the Superintendent of Police of the district where he was admitted will inform the Superintendent of Police of the district where he is serving, stating the patient's name, serial number, line, date of admission and discharge, the actual cost of food provided, if any, and the total amount incurred as calculated in accordance with the second subparagraph above. In the case of a police officer or constable serving in Assam, the entire expenditure calculated and incurred as per sub-paragraph 2 above shall be recovered directly from the patient. If for any reason the patient is unable to pay immediately, the Superintendent of Police of the district in whose hospital the constable is admitted shall recover the treatment expenses through the Superintendent of Police of the district in which the constable is serving, providing the details given in sub-paragraphs 2 and 3 above. The amount, when received, should be debited to the head "0-55-Police-Miscellaneous".
