Section 416 · Paragraph 406. Appointment on qualification to the Civil Police, Armed Police and Mounted Police— (a) Civil Police

(a) Civil Police - Sub-Inspectors are appointed by the Deputy Inspector General from a list of candidates who qualify the cadet examination at the Police Training College. Officiating appointments of junior officers are made by the Superintendent of Police under paragraph 191 of the Police Manual.
(b) Armed Police - Permanent appointments to the rank of Sub-Inspector in the Armed Police are made by the Deputy Inspector General from a list of candidates who qualify the examination prescribed under paragraph 448. The Superintendent may also promote against officiating or temporary vacancies.
(c) Mounted Police - Permanent and officiating promotions of Sub-Inspectors of the Mounted Police are made by the Deputy Inspector General according to seniority from the provincial list.
