Section 425 · Paragraph 415. Qualifications/Conditions for Recruits

All recruits must possess all physical qualifications, be medically fit, and be of good character. In selecting candidates for recruitment, the Superintendent of Police will accept those who are found most suitable for police service. For the civil police, a candidate must have passed the eighth grade (junior high school) or an examination recognized by him for recruitment to services under the government, and for the armed police, a candidate must have passed the sixth grade or an equivalent examination recognized by the government. Candidates for both the civil and armed police must also have a working knowledge of Hindi.
Any person who is a citizen of India, including a native of Nepal, is ineligible for recruitment to services and posts under the control of the Governor, provided that in the case of a native of Nepal, orders from the Inspector General of Police must be obtained before such person is considered for recruitment. When submitting the Inspector General's report, complete details of caste, residence, etc., duly verified, along with the reasons for recommending the case, must be reported.
Note - This repeated paragraph shall be deemed to have come into effect from March 21, 1959.
Before the Superintendent of Police commences recruitment, full publicity should be given through tehsils, schools, colleges, panchayats, etc. about the time and place of the election and the requisite qualifications.
