Section 543 · Paragraph 523. Transferred officers to be relieved of their duties within 10 days
Text size — level 1 of 4
Upon receiving an order transferring a subordinate officer to another district, the Superintendent shall arrange for his or her relieving from duty within ten days.
The transferred officer is entitled to receive joining time, but the Superintendent may not grant leave to any officer subject to the transfer order.
An Inspector transferred from another district shall be authorized to sign the joining time certificate from the date of arrival in the new district. If the officer being relieved is unable to attend headquarters, the joining time certificate must be signed on his or her behalf by the Superintendent of Police, or in his or her absence, by the Assistant Superintendent of Police or Deputy Superintendent of Police. This will be evidence that the relieving officer will be deemed to have been reinstated, and the joining time, leave, or release of the permanent newcomer will be counted from the day the relieving officer assumes charge.
