Section 388 · Paragraph 378. Instructions regarding the use of vehicles kept at the District Police Headquarters

(1) The stamp lorries or light vehicles maintained at the District Police Headquarters are primarily intended for the purpose of transporting police officers and constables in connection with suppressing and preventing riots, raids on dacoits and other criminals, escorting important convicted and undertrial prisoners, apprehending dacoits, or in situations where speedy transport is essential. They should not be used for ordinary transport when railways or other cheaper modes of transport are available.
(2) Police motor vehicles may be used for transporting members of the police team to sports events, tournaments, etc. only in cases where their use is economical compared to rail or other modes of travel.
