Section 370 · Paragraph 361. Protection of ancient structures and prevention of illegal excavations

See the Government Orders booklet for the duties of the village police in preserving ancient structures and preventing unauthorized excavations. The village police are responsible for reporting any attempt to disturb archaeological remains above ground, endangering their stability, and for reporting any attempted unauthorized excavations at the site of destroyed towns and buildings. Valuable archaeological remains should be treated under the Treasure Troves Act (Section 6 of 1878), whenever applicable.
