Section 389 · Paragraph 379. Retention of horse or motor vehicle by gazetted officers, inspectors and sub-inspectors
Text size — level 1 of 4
All Gazetted Officers shall maintain a horse not less than 14.2 hands in height, and all Divisional Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors who receive a horse allowance shall maintain such horses as aforementioned, not less than 14 hands in height. The Inspector General of Police may exempt any Provincial Police Officer from the requirement to maintain a horse if he is satisfied that the maintenance of a horse is not necessary for the proper discharge of his duties. An officer so exempted may maintain a motor vehicle instead of a horse. He shall not be required to repay any initial or renewed grant received for this purpose or for the maintenance of the horse and its equipment, provided that the grant has been used to purchase or maintain the horse and its equipment, and that the period during which the motor vehicle is maintained shall be deducted from the seven-year period prescribed for the horse and equipment allowance.
