Section 418 · Paragraph 408. Appointment of Constable of Mounted Police

Mounted Police Constables are appointed on probation by the Superintendent of Police, either by recruiting external candidates or by transferring constables from the Cavalry Police (at their own request). External candidates will be recruited between September 1st and September 30th. Transfers from the Cavalry to the Cavalry Branch will be made in the same month. All Cavalry Police recruits, including constables transferred from the Cavalry Police, undergo the prescribed course of instruction. Subject to the provisions of Paragraph 84, they are confirmed by the Superintendent of Police after two years.
Candidates for the Cavalry Police must possess the required age, height, and chest measurements for police recruits.
External candidates must be medically cleared by a Civil Surgeon before they can be recruited. The medical certificate must be sent with them on a blank Form No. 29, marked "For Cavalry Police Only."
