UP Police Regs 392Chapter 28 · Miscellaneous
Section 392 · Paragraph 382. Procedure if an Under Officer or Constable becomes unwell while on duty or on his return from duty
Text size — level 1 of 4
If a Sub-Officer or Constable recovers while on duty or after returning from duty, they should apply for admission to the District Police Hospital or, if it is beyond easy reach, to the nearest dispensary. The fact of their admission or treatment should be reported to the local Superintendent, who, unless they are subordinate to him, will take steps to inform the Superintendent to whom they are subordinate. Higher-ranking officers are not compelled to enter police hospitals, but this does not absolve them of the responsibility of informing the Superintendent of Police of their intention to obtain a medical certificate as prescribed above.
Note
If a leave application is sent by post due to the serious illness of a family member, whose care the officer is required to attend urgently, that is sufficient reason for the grant of leave and cannot be rejected.
The fact that the petitioner arrived in the city only a day after the examination was completed does not necessarily prove that he was not ill on the day of the examination. In the absence of any evidence to the contrary, the fact of his illness must be accepted based on the medical certificate alone.
