UP Police Regs 504Chapter 32 · Departmental Punishment of Police Officers and Their Criminal Prosecution
Section 504 · Paragraph 487. Action and punishment for escape of a prisoner from the custody of a police officer
Text size — level 1 of 4
If a police officer negligently or willfully allows a prisoner to escape, departmental proceedings should always be initiated under Section 7 of the Police Act. Unless there are mitigating circumstances in the extraordinary gazette, the penalty will be dismissal from service. Before passing a final sentence in any departmental proceeding, the Superintendent of Police should in each case refer to the Deputy Inspector General of the Range whether connivance or criminal negligence is sufficient to show cause.
