Section 232 · Para-223. Village Crime Note Book

The Village Crime Notebook is a confidential record maintained at every police station and contains information about every crime and criminal within that area. The officer-in-charge of the police station is responsible for its safe custody and contents. In cities and towns too large for a single notebook, a separate notebook should be maintained for each locality or other section.
Entries in Parts I, II, and III may be made by a subordinate under the supervision of the officer-in-charge of the police station. Entries in Part IV shall be made solely by the officer-in-charge. Entries in Part V shall be made in accordance with the instructions given in paragraph 228 below.
