Section 500 · Paragraph 483. Procedure for proceeding against a police officer

Subject to the special provisions contained in paragraph 500 and to any special orders passed by the Governor in any particular case, proceedings against a police officer shall include—
(a) an inquiry by a Magistrate or the police pursuant to which the need for further action is shown,
(b) a judicial trial, or
(c) a departmental inquiry or both.
