UP Police Regs 184Chapter 15 · Special Offences
Section 184 · Paragraph 175. Action in the event of occupational poisoning
Text size — level 1 of 4
If cases of professional poisoning occur, action should be taken as described in the preceding paragraph, but with a more relaxed approach. Superintendents and officers in charge of police stations should exercise their discretion regarding the locations to which information should be sent or surveillance should be conducted.
Great care should be taken in recording a detailed list of the offender. A complete description of his appearance should be obtained, as the poisoner inevitably spends some time with his victims.
To provide supporting evidence in anticipation of the poisoner's arrest, it is sometimes useful to take the complainant to the place where he claims to have been in the company of the poisoner and confront him with persons, such as innkeepers, grain vendors, or others, who may have seen them traveling together. The complainant should not be forced to remain with the police in the hope of the poisoner's return.
