Section 116 · Paragraph 111. Precautions to be taken when searching a closed place

A police officer conducting a search under the Code of Criminal Procedure or any other law shall, before entering the place to be searched, satisfy the officer or occupier and any witnesses called under Section 100 of the Code of Criminal Procedure that he or any member of the search party, including the informant, if present, is not carrying any object capable of being trapped. No informant shall be permitted to enter the place to be searched unless it is impossible to dispense with his assistance. Searches under the Arms Act, the Excise Act, Section 19 of the Opium Act (1st of 1878), and the Code of Criminal Procedure may be conducted day or night. Searches under the Salt Act (12th of 1882) and Section 14 of the Opium Act (1st of 1878) shall be conducted only during the day.
