Section 229 · Paragraph 220. Power of Superintendent of Police to remove name of fugitive from Fugitive Offenders Register

The Superintendent may order the removal of an absconding offender's name from the register for any of the following reasons:
(1) Arrest
(2) Certain death
(3) When all material witnesses have died or disappeared, and the evidence is found insufficient to support a successful prosecution against the offender due to the absence of a section of the Code of Criminal Procedure, or for any other reason
(4) When 30 years have elapsed in the case of Class A offenders and 5 years in the case of Class B offenders from the date the absconding person was last heard from.
