Section 515 · Paragraph 497. Superintendent of Police requiring suspended Head Constables or Constables to remain within the lines
Text size — level 1 of 4
Head Constables and Constables under suspension may be required by the Superintendent of Police to remain within the lines, but they shall not be subjected to any more stringent restraint than that imposed on an officer on line duty. They should be permitted to leave the lines to consult their legal advisor or prepare their defense. The same order applies to Sub-Inspectors under suspension, if there is suitable space for them within the lines.
If a police officer under suspension is required to remain within the police lines, the suspension order must include instructions to this effect.
This order does not apply to police officers who are released on bail by a court of law and placed under suspension, but the Superintendent of Police may order such officer to keep him informed of their activities.
