धारा 29 · Licensing authority

- The licensing authority in the city of [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] (jurisdiction of [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] Police), shall be the Director, Public Vehicles Department, [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] and elsewhere in the State, the District Magistrate :Provided that the powers of the licensing authority may be delegated to any officer not below the rank of Motor Vehicles inspector having jurisdiction.
