Section 169 · Reservation of offices of Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of Zila Parishads

- There shall be reservation for the offices of Chairmen and Vice- Chairmen in the manner prescribed by the State Government-

(a)

such number of offices of Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of Zila Parishads for the persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the number of such offices bearing as nearly as may be the same proportion to the total number of offices in the State of Punjab as the population of the Scheduled Castes in the State of Punjab bears to the total population of the State of Punjab;

(b)

[ one-half of the total number of offices of the Chairman and the Chairman of the Zila Parishads in the State of Punjab shall be reserved women: [Substituted by Punjab Act No. 12 of 2017, dated 4.7.2017.]
Provided that a fraction of an office (seat) shall not be treated an (seat) for the purpose of reservation.]
