Section 216 · Penalty for infringement of bye-laws

- In making any bye-law under any section of this Chapter, the municipality may direct that a breach or an abetment of a breach of it, shall be punishable with a fine which shall extend to [five thousand] [Substituted 'two hundred rupees' by Act No. 33 of 2011.] rupees and when the breach is a continuing breach, with a further fine of [one hundred] [Substituted 'ten rupees' by Act No. 33 of 2011.] rupees for every day after the first during which the breach continues.
