Section 17 · Bar to hold more than one office

- If a person who is chosen as a [***] [Omitted 'President or Vice-President or a' by Act No. 50 of 2013, dated 20.9.2013.] member of a municipality becomes a Member of the House of the People, the Council of State, the State Legislative Assembly or the Councillor of the Municipal Corporation or is or becomes an office-bearer of a Panchayat then at the expiration of a period of fifteen days from the date of publication of the election result or, as the case may be, within fifteen days from the date of the commencement of term of office of a Member of the House of People, the Council of States or the State Legislative Assembly or the Councillor of a Municipal Corporation or the office-bearer of a Panchayat his seat in a municipality shall become vacant unless he has previously resigned his seat in the House of People, the Council of States, the State Legislative Assembly, the Municipal Corporation or the Panchayat, as the case may be.
