धारा 1 · Short title extent and commencement

(1)

This Act may be called the Assam Adhiars Protection and Regulation Act, 1948.

(2)

The [State Government] [Substituted by the A.O. 1950 for 'Provincial Government'.] may, by notification in the official Gazette, extend all or any of the provisions of this Act to agricultural lands in any district, local area or class of estates in the [State] [Substituted by the A.O. 1950 for 'Province'.] of Assam where the Goalpara Tenancy Act, 1929, or the Assam (Temporarily-Settled Districts) Tenancy Act, 1935 or the Sylhet Tenancy Act, 1936, is applicable.

(3)

All or any of the provisions of this Act shall tome into force in any district, local area or class of estates to which the said provisions have been extended under sub-section (2) on such date as the [State Government] [Substituted by the A.O. 1950 for 'Provincial Government'.] may, by notification in the official Gazette, direct.
