Section 2 · Definitions

In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,-

(a)

"backward classes" means such classes as the State Government may, by notification, specify from time to time;

(b)

"the Corporation" means the West Bengal Backward Classes Development and Finance Corporation established under section 3;

(c)

"marketing" includes all activities in connection with the transport, grading, pooling, marketing and sale of industrial produce, whether in the primary form or in semi-processed or processed form;

(d)

"notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette;

(e)

"prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act;

(f)

"traditional occupation" means a community based occupation followed by the backward classes.
