Complaint to a platform's Grievance Officer — Rule 3(2), IT Rules 2021
Fill in the blanks
Everything you type here stays in your own browser. Nothing is sent anywhere, nothing is saved, and we never see it. Close the page and it is gone — so print before you close it.
Leave a field empty and a blank line is printed in its place, to be filled in by hand. Printing the empty form and carrying it with you is a perfectly good use of this page.
Exactly as it appears on your Aadhaar or ID.
One link per line. Give the profile link and the post link. Keep screenshots separately.
Write it in the order it happened. Do not guess at anything you cannot remember.

Subject: Complaint about content on ________________ — request for removal under Rule 3(2) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
Made under: Rule 3(2)(a) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, framed under Section 87 of the Information Technology Act, 2000; read with Section 79 of that Act.
Sir / Madam,
1. I am ________________, resident of ________________, mobile ________________, email ________________.
2. The following content on ________________ is the subject of this complaint:

3. What the content is, and why it is unlawful:
________________
4. Rule 3(2)(a)(i) requires the Grievance Officer to acknowledge this complaint within twenty-four hours and to resolve it within fifteen days of receipt; and where the complaint is a request to remove content of the kinds listed in Rule 3(1)(b), it is to be acted upon and redressed within seventy-two hours.
5. An intermediary that does not observe these Rules loses the protection of Section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
I therefore request that:
(a) the content listed above be removed or access to it disabled;
(b) the account responsible be dealt with under the platform's terms of use; and
(c) I be informed in writing of the action taken, with the complaint number.
If this complaint is not resolved, or I am dissatisfied with the decision, I reserve the right to appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee within thirty days under Rule 3A, and to approach the police and the courts.
Yours faithfully,
